Rain was one of Sky's aunts and is the late sister of Twilight, Comet, Star, and Mist. She first appears in Broken Pride. After Sun Strider is killed, Rain succeeded her mother as the Strider family's matriarch. Rain's reign is tragically short lived when she is killed by a falling tree when she led her kin to confront Stinger Crownleaf, who masterminded Sun's assassination.
Personality[]
When Rain becomes matriarch of the Strider family, she is shown as a very kind character - in giving Fearless a chance to save Sky and Moon, reasonably speaking with Stinger Crownleaf, and so on. In Blood and Bone, however, she's shown to be reckless when angered enough. When Sky reveals that Stinger was involved in Sun Strider's death, Rain and the rest of the Striders (Excluding Sky) act rashly and underestimate Stinger despite Sky's warnings. Rain's rash decisions lead to her downfall.

Broken Pride[]
After Great Mother dies, Rain takes over as the matriarch of the Strider family. As Rain becomes head of the family, it is likely that she is the eldest of all of her other sisters including, Mist, since in real life, the matriarch is replaced by the second oldest female in the herd. This is later confirmed to be true in Blood and Bone.

With Great Mother dead, Rain is now the new matriarch of the Strider herd.
Blood and Bone[]
When Sky tells Rain that Stinger was behind Great Mother's death, the Strider herd launch an attack on Stinger. Stinger climbs up a tree to escape. A branch from a kigelia tree breaks of and falls onto Rain's back, breaking her neck, and leaving Comet to become the matriarch. According to Sky, Comet is inexperienced due to her age despite being the second born daughter of Sun Strider showing that Comet was much younger than Rain.

The Spirit-Eaters[]
Despite being killed in Blood and Bone, Rain is mistakenly featured in The Spirit-Eaters when a stampede breaks out in the Plain of Hearts.
